We're going to explore one of the true hidden wonders of Washington, D.C., a Civil War fort nestled deep in Rock Creek Park. In July, 1864, a Confederate Army attempted a surprise invasion of Washington, D.C., hoping to sow panic and drive Congress and President Lincoln from the Capitol. Confederate forces swept into the city, and fought a desperate battle among the northern defenses of Washington. It’s considered one of the greatest what-ifs in American history: Had the Union lost the battle, most historians believe there would have been a negotiated settlement to the war, and a durable Confederate nation. We’re going to visit Fort DeRussy, one of the forts that drove back the Confederate attack, and learn the full story of how the Civil War came to Washington. Abandoned after the war and overgrown, Fort DeRussy was practically lost to history. Today, it’s virtually unknown: I grew up blocks away and didn't even know it was there. It's an astonishing, beautiful ruin in a peaceful forest grove. Other things to note Please check the weather in advance and dress accordingly. First we will welcome guest into our space by sharing some history of graffiti art in Washington DC. Then we will begin the process of creating name based art work on paper, and then on our 50 foot long x 9-foot tall practice wall. Discover the musical heritage of U Street --aka Black Broadway-- from jazz to hip hop to punk to go go. Walk the streets & back alleys and learn how murals, theatres, music venues, and memorials embrace the history of this amazing neighborhood. Along the way, we'll listen to a diverse playlist that will match up with the murals and venues. Other things to note: This tour ends at the intersection of 13th & U NW, 8 blocks from the starting point. Typically I hold tours rain or shine, unless the weather posses a safety hazard (lightning, ice, tornado, etc). If a weather-related emergency arises, I will be in contact with the group to cancel, delay, or reschedule. The tour includes long periods of standing and walking outdoors. Please wear comfortable and weather-appropriate footwear and clothing. Restrooms may not be available during your tour; please plan accordingly.

If the weather is good, we will also go to a beautiful park where you really feel and see the lovely DC landscape. We will start with instruction in hip-hop history and then will teach you how to set up and use technique 1200 turntables to play the beautiful vinyl! You will select from our tremendous record collection and start to scratch and blend right away - from Marvin Gaye to the current hits, you'll be able to mix your favorite tracks like a professional DJ! This is as much about learning the history of DJing as it is about you having your own expierence of the culture and technology. The meet n' greet is a photo shoot and networking event for models and photographers. It's very relaxed and informal. Everyone mixes, mingles, and shoots at their own pace. Models and photographers shoot inside Graffiti Warehouse and when the weather is nice, outside in Graffiti Alley. Photographers, bring your camera and join the fun! Other things to note Flashes, speed lights, and additional lighting are welcome, but not necessary.

We're vaccinated for your safety and peace of mind! If you've ever dreamed of sailing in a tropical paradise, we can help you get a great start to achieve that dream! From the very start you'll be on our stable and comfortable 36' Sabre sailboat, Condor. We'll jump right in with a little hands-on theory and terminology. Then we'll cover the important safety information and head out into Baltimore harbor. We will steer Condor out away from the dock, and then hand her over to you and your fellow students. Under our watchful and encouraging direction, you will be sailing! Just the wind and the sails and you! You and the other students will rotate through each position on the boat. You will be steering and hoisting and trimming sails, putting the theory you just learned to practical use. We limit the class size to five students to ensure that everyone gets sufficient hands-on time to learn and practice and ask questions. During this class, you'll learn basic sailing theory, terminology, and how to steer, hoist sails, trim sails, and tack. You will also have the opportunity to see many of the famous (and not so famous) Baltimore waterfront landmarks. Other things to note We're sailing on the 36' sailboat so it's not likely you'll get wet (unless it is raining). We will sail in light rain, but not in thunderstorms. Come ready to learn and have fun!

Looking for a fun outdoor activity for the family? Need to de-stress from the craziness of life? Cuddling with animals offers the opportunity to relax your mind and let go of the stress and anxiety for brief period. Not to mention, it's just FUN! During your visit, you will have one hour to cuddle and pet the animals on our micro-farm. Being that this is an outdoor experience, we are really not set up to do cuddle sessions during inclement weather. If we are expecting bad weather for your booked hour, I'm happy to work with you on re-scheduling for a nicer day or time. We currently have lots of Nigerian Dwarf goats of varying ages, a 2.5 year-old miniature Zebu named Molly, a rescue steer named Ferdinand, and two pigs named Charlie and Ellie. We also have numerous chickens, as well as our Holland Lop bunnies Oliver and Willow. ** For the health and safety of both our animals and yours, we do not allow outside animals to visit the farm. ** **We do not have a public bathroom on-site, since this is our home. For your convenience, we do offer a Porta-John with hand sanitizer** **For those interested, we do offer our pasture raised eggs and homemade goat milk soap available for purchase from our farm store during your visit.** **If you book a private event, please be sure to state how many people are in your group.**

We would never give you a map - this would ruin the surprise of finding a secret door but you will have a Q & A with one of our docents before you start your journey. It’s not in the finding, it’s in the seeking that is important. Experience the magic! Your self-guided experience will begin with an in-depth video introduction to our history and our secret doors, as well as what to look for as you go. Then, we will send you off on your own to search for the secrets and treasures that are everywhere to be found. As you explore the mansion, which is steeped in history and intrigue, you'll be walking in the footsteps of presidents, freedom fighters, G-Men, historians, famous musicians, and fiction writers. Built 125 years ago, nearly every President since Teddy Roosevelt has visited. Things to note We guarantee you can see at least 60 of our legendary rooms — but be warned secret doors are tricky to find —if you find 2 or 3 you are an above average sleuth All ages can attend. If you have a short attention span, this is the place for you because there is so much to see and do. If you are a minimalist, you will be overwhelmed. Escape the city to a working homestead. Lace up your hiking boots and learn what it's like to be a modern day homesteader. Here you will find a lush West Virginia landscape and a working 40-acre homestead under restoration. Children under 13 are free. Seasonal activities such as Spring wild flowers and ramps (wild garlic), Summer blueberries and garden harvest/food preservation, Fall colors and cider press, Winter snowy photography. The house was built in the early 1980s during the American "back-to-the-land" movement by folks yearning for freedom, rural peace and a better world. The unique architecture of the back-to-the-land movement is rarely accessible to the general public. To visit this property is a treat for those who appreciate nature, Americana and quietude. You'll experience a partially off the grid home with wood stove and passive solar heating and a flushless composting toilet. Includes a tour of the 3-story home and projects underway (either on foot or in a side-by-side). Projects may include sheep, heritage breed ducks and hogs, terraced hillside gardening, water harvesting, erosion control, pollinator habitat restoration, wood harvesting, and composting. The length of walking, route and duration of outdoor activity will be customized to your group. The land is a series of rolling hills. The house has stairs with no railings.

Let's get out and explore a different side of Baltimore! Many people don't realize that the Inner Harbor is not Baltimore's only scenic waterway. We have dozens of clean creeks just minutes from downtown Baltimore. You will meet at the B'More SUP paddle shack at Baltimore Boating Center and be given a brief land lesson on how to paddle and where our tour will take us. Once we hit the water you will be guided on a private SUP tour to some of Baltimore's most beautiful hidden waterways where if you get lucky you may get to see wildlife including Chesapeake Bay Otters and Bald Eagles! The entire paddle will take place on flat water- a peaceful, calm waterway called Sue Creek! During the paddle our certified instructors will give you tips and advice on how to paddle effectively and safely. We will paddle for about an hour and have an option to stop and stretch and take some pictures! Then, we will paddle back to B'More SUP. There are several waterfront bars and restaurants nearby, so if you've worked up an appetite (or thirst!) ask your instructor where to stop for great food and drinks (try an Orange Crush!). Other things to note: You'll be paddling on open water so should know how to swim. No prior SUP experience is required but all participants must be competent swimmers. There are showers & change rooms on site- bring a towel!

We will meet at the dock at B'More SUP. You will be able to store any bags, etc in our paddle shack. Then we will do a brief intro to paddling lesson on the dock. After we all feel comfortable we will get on the boards and paddle to a quiet cove on Sue Creek. The water is generally very calm and flat. We will then anchor our paddle boards and start doing a modified vinyasa yoga class on the boards. After 60 minutes of yoga we will paddle back to the dock! Other things to note Please note that this is yoga class on the water, so all participants should be comfortable on and IN the water. With that being said, all participants must be able to swim!

There is no better way to see Baltimore City than by standup paddle board! We will paddle where Baltimore’s shipbuilding and steel mills once stood. This fun and informative paddle tour will give you a fresh perspective on our city. We will meet at the Inner Harbor Marina and paddle approximately 3 miles on the harbor. We will go through a brief introduction to get you familiar with the waterways and with our equipment. We will review all the paddle basics to ensure you know proper paddle technique and are able to paddle safely and responsibly. Once you feel comfortable with the basics on how to paddle we will head out for our adventure: paddling around the Maryland Science Center, National Aquarium, we will get up close to the U.S.S. Constellation (the only surviving ship from the Civil War), Pier 6 Concert Pavillion, the historic seaport of Fells Point and then across the harbor to Domino Sugar. We highly recommend prior SUP experience for this experience. Although Baltimore's harbor water quality has improved significantly, it is still not water you would want to swim in. If you have not been on a paddle board before, reach out to us and we'd be happy to give you a lesson on a different body of water!

We'll meet at the Humpback Rocks trail parking lot to embark on one of two hikes, short and steep or a 1.5-mile stroll, to a vista unlike any other in the Blue Ridge. Along the way, you'll shake off the early-morning sleepies and learn about the history and geology of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley, all in a safe, fun environment supportive of all levels of hikers or hikers-to-be. In this tour you will learn about the farm, visit an old spring house, play with mini donkeys, feed rare Kerry Hill sheep and pet and brush Mini Highland cows. Note: You will not go into the pasture with the cows, but you will get to pet and feed them through the fence. You will have an opportunity to go in the pastures with the Mini donkeys and Kerry Hill sheep. Cows, donkeys and sheep are very friendly and will enjoy giving you licks and snuggles. Some guests like to set chairs up and just be in the pasture with the donkeys and sheep (while we are present guiding the experience). Treat yourself to great pictures as a souvenir while experiencing DC landmarks. The photo session starts at the Lincoln Memorial which has great views of the Reflecting Pool and the Washington Monument. Then we have the option of taking a 10 minute walk to take more photos at either a beautiful park or at another Memorial on the National Mall. This photo session can be adapted for engagements, elopements, families, graduating seniors, maternity, surprise proposals and business headshots. In a non-private session, another person may book and join you. We will walk together as a group and rotate between who is taking pictures. Select the private option if you do not wish to share your session with another person. Photos are typically delivered in 1 to 3 days. 10 edited high-res photo downloads are included.
